It is with great sadness that the Justice Studies Center of the Americas JSCA, receives the news of the premature passing of our former President, Justice Marc Rosenberg of the Court of Appeal of Ontario, Canada. Justice Rosenberg served on that important Court for two decades. He also honored CEJA by serving on our Board of Directors from 2008 until completing his final term as President in 2014.

Justice Rosenberg’s dedication to the cause of judicial reform and justice throughout the hemisphere was unflagging. In late 2014, even as he was already suffering his illness, he continued his JSCA duties with distinction, hosting our Board meeting in Toronto and ensuring a smooth transition of CEJA’s leadership.

Thanks in large part to his prestige and talents, the Government of his native Canada was and remains a stalwart supporter of JSCA, including throughout Justice Rosenberg’s tenure on the Board. His efforts, in turn, enabled JSCA to maintain the high professional quality of its work in strengthening hemispheric justice through research, training and exchange programs.

JSCA, and all who work for justice in the Americas, owe a deep debt of gratitude to Justice Rosenberg. We will miss him dearly. We extend our profound condolences to his family and all who knew and cared for him.
