Delivered in a hybrid format, the program combines virtual and in-person components to provide comprehensive training for prosecutors, police officers, judges, prison officials, as well as representatives from civil society and academia. Its goal is to enhance the investigation, prosecution, and victim support in gender-based violence cases, incorporating both a human rights perspective and a gender-sensitive approach.
During this session, participants advanced in the practical application of content covered in the program’s intermediate modules, focusing on criteria for the use of alternative resolutions, expedited procedures, and the development of case theory in gender-based violence investigations.
Through hands-on exercises and case analysis, participants engaged with complex scenarios designed to strengthen decision-making in criminal proceedings, promoting more effective, sensitive, and stereotype-free responses.
The training promotes:
The integration of a gender perspective throughout the criminal process
The strengthening of case theory in complex investigations
Informed decision-making in alternative resolutions
The improvement of institutional practices through a rights-based approach
In-person sessions, such as this second training in Trinidad and Tobago, are essential to consolidating learning through participatory activities, case analysis, and simulation exercises that effectively bridge theory and practice.
