CEJA successfully concludes the first edition of the course “Investigating Corruption by Following the Money”

The Justice Studies Center of the Americas (CEJA), together with the German Federal Foreign Office, successfully implemented the first edition of the course “Investigating Corruption by Following the Money” for the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office of the State of Chihuahua, Mexico.

Designed by CEJA in 2024, the program includes modules on economic crimes, investigation and prosecution of economic criminality, regional regulation, the importance of forensic auditing, and asset forfeiture as a tool to combat economic crimes.

This inaugural edition targeted specialized anti-corruption prosecutors, investigators, and analysts from Chihuahua’s Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office. Since February, participants have taken classes on CEJACAMPUS and attended in-person sessions, which will conclude on March 18 with a closing event featuring representatives from the Prosecutor’s Office, the German Foreign Office, and CEJA.

Authorities participating in the closing event include Minister Luis Abelardo Valenzuela Holguín, Chief Prosecutor of the Anti-Corruption Office of Chihuahua; Ms. María Cristina Rodríguez de Mehuys, Honorary Consul of Germany in Chihuahua; and Ms. Cecilia Barrios, CEJA Advisor (Guatemala), a lawyer and notary with extensive experience in the judicial, prosecutorial, and human rights fields.

A joint effort to effectively combat corruption

This program trains specialized anti-corruption prosecutors to equip them with tools for tracking illicit assets and prosecuting economic crimes.
