The Justice Studies Center of the Americas (CEJA) met with representatives of the Inter-American Commission of Women (CIM) of the Organization of American States (OAS) to define possible lines of cooperation related to access to justice with a gender perspective.
During the meeting, CEJA proposed advancing joint actions such as:

Development of studies and research on shared priority topics, especially on interculturality and intersectionality in women’s rights.

Use of CEJACampus as a platform for joint training on justice, gender, and human rights.

Organization of seminars and academic activities with regional impact.
CIM was represented by Alejandra Mora, Executive Secretary, and Hilary Anderson, Principal Specialist. CEJA was represented by Bruno Novoa, Chair of the Board of Directors, and Nataly Ponce, Executive Director.
CIM expressed interest in initiating collaboration through a specific and high-impact focus. Both institutions agreed to prioritize work on the situation of women deprived of liberty in Latin America, including analysis of trends such as the expansion of mega-prisons and their gender-specific impacts.
The following actions were agreed upon:

CEJA will draft a Concept Note for a regional study on women deprived of liberty.

A diagnostic mapping of the prison situation of women in the region will be developed.

A technical meeting will be organized to present the capabilities of CEJACampus and explore training synergies.
This meeting is aligned with OAS General Assembly Resolution AG/RES. 3029, which mandates the creation of a Collaborative Roadmap between CEJA and the OAS to enhance institutional visibility and strengthen cooperation with OAS bodies.
Additionally, it reflects the shared commitment of both institutions to promote justice with a gender perspective and contribute to the development of evidence-based public policies with a regional and rights-based focus.
