In a key step toward more effective cooperation in the fight against organized crime and the improvement of fiscal management in Ibero-America, the Ibero-American Association of Public Prosecutors (AIAMP)—which brings together 22 Public Prosecutor’s Offices from across the region—and the Justice Studies Center of the Americas (CEJA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding establishing a strategic alliance aimed at strengthening the work of Public Prosecutor’s Offices throughout Latin America.
The agreement was signed by Eduardo Ezequiel Casal, President of AIAMP and Attorney General of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Argentina, and Nataly Ponce Chauca, Executive Director of CEJA, during the 32nd Ordinary General Assembly of AIAMP, held in Madrid, Spain.
The Memorandum establishes a framework for collaboration between both institutions to enhance criminal prosecution systems across the Americas. Its implementation includes several lines of action, such as:
- Joint organization of training sessions, seminars, workshops, and conferences on topics including criminal prosecution of organized crime, the use of technologies, prosecutor security, gender-based approaches, and modern fiscal management models.
- Technical assistance for strengthening case management systems, fiscal databases, performance indicators, and digital transformation processes.
- Exchange of relevant information, including studies, statistics, best practices, and lessons learned.
The Memorandum is of indefinite duration, and its signing represents a strong commitment by both entities to institutional strengthening and capacity-building of Public Prosecutor’s Offices to address the challenges of justice, crime, and security in the region.
With this agreement, AIAMP and CEJA reaffirm their roles as key actors in promoting more effective criminal prosecution systems in response to the evolving challenges of the regional criminal justice landscape.
