CEJA INVITES PARALLEL EVENTS THAT IT ORGANIZES WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE FIFTY-FOURTH REGULAR SESSION OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE ORGANIZATION OF AMERICAN STATES (OAS)

June 26 and 27, 2024, Asunción, Paraguay

The Justice Studies Center of the Americas (JSCA) is the OAS organization specialized in the justice systems of the Hemisphere, created in the 1999 General Assembly. In 2024, JSCA celebrates 25 years of work strengthening access to justice , the effectiveness of judicial systems against crime and organized crime, and equity and equality before the law in the democratic States of the continent.

Within the framework of the Fifty-Fourth Regular Session of the OAS General Assembly, JSCA is pleased to invite you to the parallel events that our institution organizes in alliance with the States, Civil Society and international development agencies in the region.

Modality: All events will be in person and virtual.

Languages: Spanish and English, with simultaneous interpretation.

The rights of women in rural areas and their access to justice

Objective: The side event fosters a dialogue between governments and experts on the subject of the Rule of Law, specifically on the challenges of women who reside in rural areas to enjoy their rights and achieve legal protection. During the event, the transformative nature of access to justice will be addressed and the policies, opportunities and challenges that States face to guarantee women a life free of violence will be debated. Organized by: Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany, Government of Paraguay, Center for Justice Studies of the Americas, Inter-American Commission of Women.

Objective: Promote regional reflection on effective access to justice in the Americas, delving into the judicial and extrajudicial paths and routes that women, girls, boys and other vulnerable people follow in Colombia, Peru and the Caribbean, with a perspective applied People-Centered Justice (PCJ) and alternative conflict resolution.
