The text \nincludes 19 articles selected from a total of 70 submissions received \nfrom researchers throughout the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br> The workshop <strong>Societies demanding justice that gives answers: Enforceability and justiciability of ESCE in Latin America <\/strong>was\n held on Monday, November 25. During the event, the results based on \nexperiences and case studies from Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Colombia and\n Uruguay were discussed along with the critical nodes of justice systems\n in regard to making cases justiciable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br> The activity included DIRAJUS Program Director <strong>Helen Ahrens, <\/strong>JSCA Executive Director <strong>Jaime Arellano, <\/strong>JSCA Research and Projects Director <strong>Marco Fandi\u00f1o, Gonzalo Fibla, Alejandra Bocardo and Anan\u00edas Reyes <\/strong>of JSCA, and <strong>Manuel Jacques, Alexander Schubert <\/strong>and <strong>Walter Alb\u00e1n <\/strong>of GIZ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br> The ESCE Rapporteur of the Organization of American States (OAS), <strong>Soledad Garc\u00eda Mu\u00f1oz, <\/strong>offered a presentation on the demand for ESCE rights in the context of current political processes in Latin America. <strong>Nancy Y\u00e1\u00f1ez <\/strong>of Universidad de Chile and <strong>Lidia Casas <\/strong>of Universidad Diego Portales offered comments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br> <strong>One of the most important \nfindings of the study for Chile\u2019s current situation \u2013which includes an \nongoing discussion of creating a new Constitution through a plebiscite \nin April 2020- is the lack of Constitutional recognition of economic, \nsocial, cultural and environmental (ESCE) rights. Chile\u2019s 1980 \nConstitution presents the most limitations of such protections in Latin \nAmerica because it does not explicitly guarantee these rights.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br> This implies a process by which \nrights become property or are protected through the idea of life as a \nseed right or, in other words, the idea of protecting other rights \nthrough the right to life.
