Access to justice for everyday conflicts that do not reach the justice system should be addressed by putting the population\u2019s legal needs at the center of the reform process,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>MARCO FANDI\u00d1O, JSCA RESEARCH AND PROJECTS DIRECTOR<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Mar\u00eda Victoria Rivas<\/strong>, the Executive Director of the <strong>Judicial<\/strong> <strong>Research Center<\/strong> (CEJ) stated that, \u201cParaguay\u2019s Civil Procedure Code dates back to 1988. Changes have been made, but an in-depth discussion did not occur in light of the Constitution of 1992.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNow is the time to discuss principles such as the use of oral procedures and immediacy and to incorporate mechanisms that guarantee effective judicial protection,\u201d she adds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>MAR\u00cdA VICTORIA RIVAS, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE CENTER FOR JUDICIAL STUDIES<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The activity, which will be broadcast via the YouTube Channel of the <a href=\"https:\/\/youtube.com\/channel\/UC0O98F4Gn7x4SKanRgU28uw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Center for Judicial Research<\/a>, will consist of <strong>three roundtable discussions<\/strong> that will feature experts from Argentina, Spain, Paraguay, Chile, Peru, El Salvador and Uruguay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Round-table Discussions<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The first roundtable discussion, \u201cCivil Justice in Times of Pandemic: Virtual Proceedings and Electronic Judicial Process,\u201d<\/strong> will be moderated by JSCA researcher <strong>Mat\u00edas Sucunza<\/strong> and will also include Lorenzo Bujosa, the President of the Ibero-American Procedure Law Institute; Victoria Mosman of the Agentine Procedure Law Association; and the Honorable Vivian L\u00f3pez, a civil and commercial court judge in Asunci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The second roundtable discussion, \u201cCivil Procedure Reform in Latin America:<\/strong> <strong>The Perspective of the Judiciary<\/strong>,\u201d will be moderated by JSCA researcher <strong>Anan\u00edas Reyes<\/strong>. She will be joined by Supreme Court Justice H\u00e9ctor Lama, Appeals Court Judge Patricia del Valle and Appeals Chamber Judge Joel Melgarejo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The<strong> third and final roundtable discussion,<\/strong>\u201c<strong>Procedure<\/strong> <strong>Reform in Latin America:<\/strong> <strong>The Perspective of the Practice of Law<\/strong>,\u201d will be moderated by JSCA researcher <strong>Mar\u00eda Jos\u00e9 del Solar<\/strong> and will include Lorena Etcheberry, the Vice President of the Chilean Bar Association; Santiago Pereira Campos, a member of the Eduardo J.
