CEJA was represented by <strong data-start=\"687\" data-end=\"702\">Bruno Novoa<\/strong>, Chair of the Board of Directors; <strong data-start=\"737\" data-end=\"753\">Nataly Ponce<\/strong>, Executive Director; <strong data-start=\"775\" data-end=\"792\">Nicol\u00e1s Soler<\/strong>, Board Member; and <strong data-start=\"812\" data-end=\"831\">Javiera Domange<\/strong>, Researcher.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"846\" data-end=\"1238\">During the meeting, CEJA presented its key strategic areas of work, highlighting two main lines of collaboration: the development of studies and research on judicial reform, institutional modernization, and access to justice\u2014particularly in democratic contexts\u2014and training and virtual education through <strong data-start=\"1150\" data-end=\"1164\">CEJACampus<\/strong>, focused on electoral justice, local governance, and conflict resolution.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"846\" data-end=\"1238\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-15739\" src=\"https:\/\/cejamericas.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-05-26-at-00.51.04-3-2.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"591\" height=\"864\" \/><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1240\" data-end=\"1313\">The Secretariat shared its work structure, organized in three main areas:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1314\" data-end=\"1546\">\n<li data-start=\"1314\" data-end=\"1395\">\n<p data-start=\"1316\" data-end=\"1395\">Electoral observation missions, with growing interest in jurisdictional issues.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1396\" data-end=\"1437\">\n<p data-start=\"1398\" data-end=\"1437\">Missions for democratic sustainability.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1438\" data-end=\"1546\">\n<p data-start=\"1440\" data-end=\"1546\">The Directorate for Peace Promotion and Coordination with Subnational Governments, led by Juan Pablo Pozo.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1548\" data-end=\"1630\">As a result of the meeting, the following potential joint actions were identified:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1631\" data-end=\"2160\">\n<li data-start=\"1631\" data-end=\"1752\">\n<p data-start=\"1633\" data-end=\"1752\">Technical and educational support for the creation of the <strong data-start=\"1691\" data-end=\"1712\">Peace Observatory<\/strong>, projected for the second half of 2025.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1753\" data-end=\"1875\">\n<p data-start=\"1755\" data-end=\"1875\">Joint development of training programs on <strong data-start=\"1797\" data-end=\"1818\">electoral justice<\/strong>, based on the newly published manual by the Secretariat.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1876\" data-end=\"2005\">\n<p data-start=\"1878\" data-end=\"2005\">A <strong data-start=\"1880\" data-end=\"1901\">comparative study<\/strong> on access to justice within the framework of subnational governments and their democratic institutions.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2006\" data-end=\"2160\">\n<p data-start=\"2008\" data-end=\"2160\">Support for dialogue and capacity-building processes with local authorities, with an emphasis on conflict prevention and strengthening local governance.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"2162\" data-end=\"2187\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-15740\" src=\"https:\/\/cejamericas.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-05-26-at-00.52.06-1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"591\" height=\"761\" \/><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2162\" data-end=\"2187\">Final agreements include:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"2188\" data-end=\"2481\">\n<li data-start=\"2188\" data-end=\"2272\">\n<p data-start=\"2190\" data-end=\"2272\">Coordinating a technical meeting to define concrete actions on prioritized topics.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2273\" data-end=\"2388\">\n<p data-start=\"2275\" data-end=\"2388\">Organizing an inaugural panel as part of the <strong data-start=\"2320\" data-end=\"2361\">Peace and Democracy Conference Series<\/strong> hosted by the Secretariat.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2389\" data-end=\"2481\">\n<p data-start=\"2391\" data-end=\"2481\">Receiving a concept note from the OAS to align goals and formally initiate the joint work.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"2483\" data-end=\"2724\">This meeting follows the mandate of <strong data-start=\"2519\" data-end=\"2567\">OAS General Assembly Resolution AG\/RES. 3029<\/strong>, which calls for a <strong data-start=\"2587\" data-end=\"2637\">Collaborative Roadmap between CEJA and the OAS<\/strong>, aiming to increase CEJA\u2019s visibility and promote joint efforts with other OAS bodies.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2726\" data-end=\"2931\">This articulation reaffirms CEJA\u2019s commitment to building strong, transparent, and accessible institutions in Latin America and highlights the value of inter-American cooperation and regional partnerships.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Justice Studies Center of the Americas (CEJA) held a meeting with representatives of the Secretariat for Strengthening Democracy of the Organization of American States (OAS) to explore potential areas of cooperation in electoral justice, subnational governments, and peace promotion.
