The Justice Studies Center of the Americas (CEJA) presented to the Organization of American States (OAS) the Collaborative Roadmap between CEJA and the OAS: Advancing InterInstitutional Cooperation for Access to Justice and the Rule of Law in the Americas, a strategic document that consolidates CEJA’s role as the specialized technical body of the Organization in matters of justice and the rule of law.

During the presentation, Nataly Ponce Chauca received congratulations from countries such as Chile, Mexico, Peru, El Salvador, Brazil, and Colombia. Prepared in compliance with the mandate of the OAS General Assembly (Resolution AG/RES. 3029 – LIV-O/24), this Roadmap represents an institutional milestone that guides the joint work between CEJA and the main bodies of the Organization, including the Secretariat for Strengthening Democracy, the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, the Inter-American Commission of Women, and the Department of International Law, among others.

The document outlines a coordinated cooperation agenda aimed at strengthening justice, democracy, human rights, and institutional sustainability across the region. Through five strategic pillars — justice and governance; access to rights and gender equality; security and organized crime; judicial innovation and training; and institutional sustainability — the Roadmap establishes a common framework for action between CEJA and the OAS for the 2025–2027 period.

“This instrument represents CEJA’s institutional response to the mandate of the OAS General Assembly and reinforces our commitment to strengthening democracy, the rule of law, and access to justice in the Americas,” emphasized Nataly Ponce Chauca, Executive Director of CEJA.

The Roadmap includes a timeline of activities featuring training programs, joint research, hemispheric studies, and inter-institutional dialogue spaces. Highlights include the creation of the Observatory for Peace, a seminar on judicial independence, a study on women deprived of liberty, and the renewal of cooperation agreements with the Inter-American Court of Human Rights and the Department of International Law.

With this publication, CEJA reaffirms its commitment to the OAS mission and its role as a technical engine for strengthening justice systems in the Americas, consolidating its leadership in promoting a more accessible, inclusive, and sustainable justice.
